Sino-North American Leisure and Tourism Academic Leaders Forum

Host: CILRA & the University of Illinois

Participants: Forum members will include Deans, Chairs/Heads, and program directors of leisure, tourism, and global education programs in China and North America. All registered conference attendees are welcomed to attend the Forum.

Purposes of the forum are to explore:

  1. How to internationalize Chinese and North American leisure, recreation, parks, and tourism programs.
    1. Opportunities and barriers to institutional collaborations.
    2. Developing and fostering bi-directional student exchanges between Chinese and North American universities.
    3. Contributions of international faculty to the internationalization of Chinese and North American programs.
    4. Students’ recruitment and retention through international programs.
  2. Strategies for developing productive and sustainable research collaborations between Chinese and North American universities.
  3. Future research directions in leisure, recreation, parks, and tourism studies in China and North America.
    1. What are the critical and most promising avenues for research beyond the 9 areas identified during the 2013 Beijing CILRA Congress (time use, leisure and happiness/life satisfaction, public policy and planning, family leisure, needs and motivations, technological change, leisure space and resources, leisure education, and leisure and traditional culture)?
